I love honey not only because taste so good but also because it is full of healthy properties!
Honey is a processed food that’s processed by bees rather than by humans. “Drone” bees are fly around, jumping from one flower to the other and drinking nectar, a dilute sugar-water solution in flowers. Nectar goes in their honey sacs and it is mixed with enzymes which digest the mixture. These bees pass the digested material to the “Workers” bees who reduce the moisture content by ingesting and regurgitating the mixture. They deposit concentrated drops into honeycomb cells. After this, bees fan the fluid with their wings over the next few days to further concentrate it, finally sealing the cells with wax.
That is an amazing organized system which is almost unique in nature and even more astonishing is the result of it: honey.
Actually, out of that process, humans can get plenty of other products and benefits but let‘s focus on honey!
Honey is an extremely beneficial food but mainly if consumed raw: antimicrobial, antibiotic, a boost for immune system, a soft touch for skin and hairs, mitigate symptoms from gastric ulcers.
Depending on the type of honey, the therapeutic properties can change:
- acacia honey has a positive effect on the digestive system;
- forest honey or honeydew is indicated in flu states;
-orange blossom honey has healing properties;
-sunflower honey is antineuralgic, febrifuge, recommended against high cholesterol in blood;
